Parenting from the heart Y with Lucy Aitkenread

Lucy returned for a workshop to share perspectives on what our role as parents is with tools that can empower us, to be ‘the parent you want to be.’

Lucy said she was inspired by Great Barrier Island. “It takes a village to raise a child, the saying goes, and I see how the Barrier peeps are caring for their kids as community so beautifully. It’s awesome to see how parents are truly trying to view their kids as autonomous beings, worthy of respect and dignity” Lucy has a vision of a world where all adults treat children with the same loving and respectful manner they would as a VIP visiting our strange adult society with its quirky customs!

Year 8s trip to Auckland

This year we had the largest number of students to date, that is 9 boys and 4 girls, from all the schools over Aotea, flying to Auckland last month and staying at the YHA for a weekend.

Using hop cards on trains and busses, the group visited a bank, the police, the botanical gardens, Auckland Museum and Rainbows End, along the way learning about city living and how to be ‘safe and streetwise.’

Our work is possible thanks to …

Ð Mainly Music Î

Making music for the under 5s with Keri.

Starting soon for pre-school children: Monday’s 9:30 till 10:30 at the Claris Conference Centre. Bring musical instruments and enjoy some fun. A gold coin donation would be appreciated.

Watch out for notices with more details going out soon.
