In the pipeline for 2020

The new year is well underway and we have been busy planning. So, watch out for notices of

Monthly meals for Over 60s at Claris Club, Tryphena Club and Whangaparapara Lodge.

Seniors Activities every last Friday of the month, visiting Okiwi Passion, Glenfern, Haratoanga, the Whaling Station, and more.

After School Programme for year 7 and 8s (Parents will be invited to meet with the Youth Activities Coordinator once schools are under way again.)

School Holiday Programmes for 2 weeks every break.

A Youth Trip later in the year.

Mainly Music sessions with pre-schoolers meeting weekly.

A Parenting Workshop.

At least one Family Picnic.

And a Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Partnering with Mori workshop (2 Sept, with ANCAD)

All this alongside our usual caregiving and community services.

Our work is possible thanks to on going financial support from The Great Barrier Local Board, Foundation North, the Lottery Grants Board, among others.

Job Vacancy: Do you like working with children?

AFSG Youth Assistant

We are looking for an energetic and responsible person to help our Youth Activities Coordinator, Keri Lyon, with the weekly After School Program (5h/week), and the School Holiday Programs, 4x year (up to 60h over 2 weeks).

The role also includes driving Year 7 and 8s from Okiwi School every week and during the holidays to various locations around the island.

You must pass a police check and have a clean drivers license. The pay rate is $20.50 per hour. Immediate start.

New Years Picnic 2020: Were you there?

At our annual fundraiser, the 2020 New Years Picnic, we raised over 6,500 dollars thanks to generous donors, auction and raffle sponsors as well as stall holder fees. This money will go directly towards supporting families and especially those in crisis.

Next Seniors Activity on Friday February 28th

This trip will be a tour of Okiwi Passion gardens in Okiwi. Please bring along a shared picnic lunch and morning tea, tea and coffee supplied. The van will be leaving M G School at 10 am.
